Ready to supply next Aakash tablet at Rs 2500 apiece: Datawind

After completing supply of 1 lakh units of Aakash tablets to IIT Bombay for Rs 2,263 apiece, Datawind today said it is ready to provide the next version of the device at a tentative price of Rs 2,500 apiece.
"As per my information, the committee on Aakash tablets is looking to higher version of the device at Rs 2,500 a piece and we are ready to match the price on order for every 10 lakh units," Datawind CEO Suneet Singh Tuli told reporters here.
When queried about alleged delays in supply of Aakash tablets under the previous tender, he said Datawind has supplied all tablets more than a month in advance.
"The deadline to finish supplies of Aakash tablet is around June 6 under the tender clause. We have done it by May 1 so we have complied with the norms," he said.
Datawind has recommended higher specifications for the next version of Aakash tablets which will include a SIM slot and enable users to make calls.
Tuli welcomed the Preferential Market Access policy norms which in general has been opposed by foreign companies.
The policy mandates government to procure electronic products, including tablet PCs, which should have at least 30 per cent components made locally.
"We have set up an LCD touchscreen unit in Amritsar.
Therefore, Datawind will comply with the norms of 30 per cent value addition in the product from India. I would like government to strictly implement it. It is good for the country and will encourage electronics manufacturing in the country," Tuli said.
Tuli added that other companies will have to set up LCD units in India to meet PMA conditions.

Wickedleak Wammy Desire 2 price in India is Rs. 9,999

Wickedleak has launched the Wammy Desire 2 in India and it has smeared the tablet with a price tag of Rs. 9,999. This retail value has however been calculated without taking taxes into consideration, after counting that, its sum total stands to be Rs. 10,398.
The company will be selling the Wickedleak Wammy Desire 2 in two variants; one stocked with the Ice Cream Sandwich OS and the other with Jelly Bean. Probably because the latter model rocks the beta version of Android 4.2 out of the box, the retail value of both the units happens to be the same.
An IPS 5-point touch screen which scales up to 7 inches can be seen dominating the front panel and sharing room with a VGA webcam. On flipping the device over, a 3MP camera can be spotted lodged onto its flip side.
The tablet gets its high out of a quad core Exynos 4 processor, which qualifies its Jelly Bean variant to compete against the likes of the Acer Iconia A1 and the Zync Quad 8.0. Also, a Mali 400 GPU along with 1GB of DDR3 RAM grabs a spot in the slate’s interiors.

As far as memory is concerned, users should be able to store content up to 8GB internally. If they find themselves demanding additional hoarding space, they could always slip a microSD card of up to 32GB into the integrated expansion port.
Other highlights of the tablet cover connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1 as well as the inbuilt 3,300mAh battery. Sadly, the option in terms of color schemes has been restricted to white only.
Angular Profile
The manufacturer has put the Wickedleak Wammy Desire 2 up for pre-order in India and has stated that the first stock will arrive on May 15. The company has furthermore presented buyers with a deal that lets them collect loyalty points equivalent to the price excluding taxes. This in turn will get converted into a Rs. 100 voucher.
Here are a bunch of the tablet’s significant specifications:
- 7-inch IPS capacitive touch screen
- 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution
- Android Ice Cream Sandwich or Android Jelly Bean (Beta) OS
- Quad core Exynos 4 processor
- Mali 400 graphics
- 1GB of DDR3 RAM
- 8GB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB
- 2MP primary and 0.3MP secondary cameras
- 3,300mAh battery

HTC Butterfly

The Butterfly makes you sit up and take notice of the little things, and the big things. The biggest change over the Japanese version is the switch from the plastic to the soft touch polycarbonate at the back. We appreciate this change, because the rubberized finish at the back is immensely helpful when trying to deploy single hand operation on big screen phones. We have seen how well HTC deploys the polycarbonate finish on the phones, particularly with the One X and the One X+, and the soft touch has been picked up from the HTC WP8X.

The camera on the Butterfly sits flush with the rest of the back cover. This is a good change, after we had pointed out that the raised camera position on the One X made it prone to scratches when kept on a table.

HTC Butterfly (3G) has been available in Australia since late 2012 for $709. It features similar screen size and resolution as Z and S4, except its display is enhanced by S-LCD 3. Its 16GB storage is expandable up to 32GB. Phone enthusiasts will also be able to take decent pictures with the Butterfly's 8MP camera. It is only 140 g with 2020 mAh battery.

Huawei P6-U06 Aims World’s Thinnest Smartphone Title

Huawei P6-U06The Chinese company has yet to make it official, but the latest rumors claim that Huawei P6-U06 will be the thinnest Android smartphone available on the market.

The phone is said to be only 6.18mm thin and measures 132.6 x 65.5mm. It also weighs around 120g (battery included), which makes it lighter than Samsung’s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S 4, which weighs 130g.

Currently, the thinnest Android smartphone available on the market is the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra, at only 6.45mm thickness.

Unfortunately, there are no details on the Huawei P6-U06’s release or pricing options yet, but rumor has it that the smartphone will be available in the coming weeks in black, white and pink.

Specs-wise, the P6-U06 is a decent high-end smartphone and comes packed with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor manufactured by Huawei, complemented by 2GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the device is said to sport a large 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution.

On the back, it will boast an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording (1080p@30fps), while in the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Last but not least, Huawei P6-U06 is said to ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. Still, the Chinese company may offer an Android 4.2 upgrade soon after launch.

No word on the phone’s release date or on whether or not Huawei will make it available outside China, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
It looks like Huawei plans to launch another high-end Android smartphone, the P6-U06. Obviously, this is just a codename, so we should expect a more commercial name for the devices closer to official launch.

According to GSMInsider, Huawei P6-U06 has been recently spotted in China at TENAA (Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center), which is a slight indication that the smartphone will be initially launched in the Mainland.

Samsung GALAXY Fame duos and GALAXY Win duos Coming Soon to India

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Fame duos back in February at Mobile World Congress, but the smartphone has yet to go on sale in India.

However, Android enthusiasts in India won’t have to wait too long to be able to grab this affordable dual-SIM smartphone, as AndroidOS reports that Samsung plans to launch the devices in the country pretty soon.

Along with the Galaxy Fame duos, Samsung will also release another dual-SIM smartphone – the Galaxy Win duos, which was officially announced earlier this month. For the time being, both Android phones are available for purchase via Indian retailers.

Those who wish to buy the Galaxy Fame duos will have to come up with Rs 10,999 ($200/€155) upfront.

The Galaxy Win duos is more expensive, as Android fans will have to pay no less than Rs 18,300 outright, which is about $335 or €255.

We expect that both dual-SIM smartphones will be available for purchase at multiple Indian retailers, as soon as Samsung officially introduces the devices in the country.

For those unfamiliar with the phones’ specs sheet, Galaxy Fame duos comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper, VGA front-facing camera and 1,300 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Fame duos will ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

It also packs a 1GHz single-core processor, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

The Galaxy Win duos is powered by the same Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean platform and packs a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 203 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone sports a 4.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution, a 5-megapixel main camera, secondary VGA camera for video calls, 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Sony Xperia SP

The 4.3-inch screen with Bravia tech         - this phone is festooned with big hitting    Sony tech sub-brands, by the way. It's extremely vivid and bright, whether you're looking at video, photos or surfing the web.

Some of you may prefer the more naturalistic look of, for instance, the Apple iPhone 4S's screen, but for anyone hooked on OLED displays, this is the nearest LCD has got to that kind of vibrant, luminescent psychedelia.

This sony xperia S comes with a HDMI port with the help of HDMI cable you can connect your sony xperia with HD tv and can enjoy for example if you want to watch a You Tube video on your TV, you can simply load up the app and you are       good to go. That is not all, you can also browse the web, check emails, stream videos and music via the Sony Music Unlimited/Video unlimited services.

One day, the built-in NFC capability will turn the S into a travel pass and debit card. Right now, you can exchange documents with it and scan tags. So tap it on the “bedroom” tag and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the ringtones turn off, while the alarm app turns on. For some reason, tapping again in the morning doesn’t have the reverse effect. Tags are user-programmable, though.

The Sony Xperia S has a 1,750 mAh Li Ion battery. This smartphone will have offer a maximum talk time of 7 hours, which is the average for all Smartphones. However, the battery will provide up to 450 hours in standby mode, which is 26.4% better than the average for all Smartphones. The Sony Xperia S weighs 144 grams, which is 14 grams heavier than the average for all Smartphones. Additionally, the Sony Xperia S is 5.04" tall, 2.52" wide, and 0.42" thick, which is 10.6% less than the average for all Smartphones.

The 32GB of built-in memory does come to the rescue as does the partly cloud storage facility.
The Xperia S also uses microSIM card, so you need to pick a microSIM card from your operator rather than a standard SIM-card. Not a hassle if you already know that.

HTC One delayed in India, coming on May 7th

Waiting for HTC One in India, well we are too, but it is still some time away. HTC had earlier announced that HTC One will become available in the country before the end of April and the month is almost over with no HTC One in sight.

New information regarding HTC One availability suggests that India release of the phone has been delayed. If the HTC One listing on Saholic is to be believed, the phone will become available on May 7, 2013.

Seems like, despite the recent reports of HTC getting hold of the supply situation; the company is still struggling to get the required stocks. With the HTC One’s recent release in high-profile markets like US, the company is unable to get the inventory for a market like India, which is clearly not a priority for it right now.

With Galaxy S4 already available in India and massive marketing muscle of Samsung behind it, HTC has already lost half the game. Not only has Samsung priced Galaxy S4 more attractively, it has also made it available within 24 hours of the official launch. On the other hand, HTC One was announced in the country almost three weeks ago for INR 42,900 and the phone is still nowhere to be seen.
